The story
In the public lobbies of the Master Chief Collection, a small family of Spartans ventures out to forage among strangers. Our guide, hitless simo, begins well enough: fourth place, which he is quietly proud of.
In Oddball he is issued a vivid yellow, an unfortunate colour for a creature that survives by not being noticed. The scoreboard records a single kill. The deaths, sixteen of them, take longer to count. Elsewhere the family has better nights: electivesimo takes the first of four wins, Elderlan88 edges our guide on points after they finish level on kills and assists, and ImpendingFate, barely through the door, beats him by a single kill.
Elderlan88 wins Crazy King with sixty-eight points of standing still. MusicalSimo6358, newly arrived, takes second. Twenty-two rounds in the open: five won by the family, seventeen by strangers.
So the family withdraws to the nest: a private game, just the six of them, Red against Blue on Blood Gulch, friendly fire on. With the game on the line, our guide is cut down by his own teammate. The kill feed is unambiguous: hitless simo, betrayed by electivesimo. Seconds later Red captures. Three flags to two. A rematch is demanded at once.
